I'm excited to begin our deep dive into the magic, the mystery and the metaphysics of Stephen King's magnum opus, The Dark Tower series, starting with Chapter One of "The Gunslinger."

In this episode we:

• Get the best opening live ever: "The Man in Black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed."
• Meet our protagonist, but not get his name for quite awhile! (Until I accidently say it before the reveal in the book - oops!)
• Entrench ourselves firmly in our setting, the wobbly, dreamy "apotheosis of all deserts" and
• Get a story within a story, within a story....within a story?

In this week's book club, we'll be discussing Chapter 2, "The Way Station" from Stephen King's first Dark Tower novel, "The Gunslinger."

Together we will:

• Meet a new character, Jake 'Bama' Chambers.
• Find out there is a Dark Tower in The Dark Tower series...surprise! and
• Get a flashback that takes us back to Kennedy's Camelot er, I mean Roland's life in Gilead.

Join me to dive in and pick apart just what the heck is happening, and insert ourselves into Roland's boots so that we can try and extend some empathy to him (and ourselves!).
