Are you playing the Christian card, or do you actually know Jesus? In this verse-by-verse study of Matthew 3, Robert walks through the fiery ministry of John the Baptist: the call to repent, the "brood of vipers," the ax at the root, and baptism with the Holy Spirit and fire. Then Jesus steps into the Jordan, the heavens open, and the Father declares, "This is My beloved Son." God isn't fooled by the religious act. He wants your heart. Leave your junk and come.

In this episode, Robert guides us through Matthew Chapter 2, where the quiet birth in Bethlehem triggers a massive clash of kingdoms. We follow the Wise Men from the East as they track the star to honor the newborn King of the Jews, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Drawing from the Enduring Word Commentary, we expose the stark contrast between the sincere worship of foreign seekers and the paranoid hostility of King Herod. We watch God protect the young child through divine warnings in dreams—leading Joseph to flee into Egypt to escape Herod’s brutal violence—and see how every movement of Jesus’ early life fulfilled ancient Old Testament prophecies.

This verse-by-verse Bible study unpacks:➡️ The identity of the Wise Men and the prophetic meaning behind gold, frankincense, and myrrh➡️ The spirit of Herod: Why world powers react with fear and violence to the authority of Jesus➡️ How God uses dreams and angelic direction to protect His Son and preserve His plan➡️ Four distinct Old Testament prophecies fulfilled in a single chapter—from Bethlehem to Egypt to Nazareth

No matter what threats arise or how dark the culture becomes, God is always in total control of the narrative. Hit play to see how the early life of Jesus guarantees His power to protect and guide you today.

Many people skim right past the long list of names at the opening of the New Testament, assuming it's just ancient history. But in Matthew Chapter 1, every single name is a monument to God’s keeping power, absolute sovereignty, and surprising grace.

In this episode of The Hope of Matthew, Robert leads us into the opening chapter of the First Gospel. We break down the royal genealogy of Jesus Christ, tracing His lineage from Abraham through David, right up to Joseph.

Using insights from the Enduring Word Commentary, we highlight the scandalous mercy buried in this family tree. God didn't clean up Jesus' ancestry—He included women with complex pasts, outsiders, and flawed kings, proving that Jesus didn't come to shun broken humanity; He came to be born right into the middle of it.

We then step into Joseph's dilemma when he learns Mary is pregnant. We see how the angel meets him in a dream, confirming the miraculous virgin conception prophesied in Isaiah, and revealing the true mission of Messiah: "You shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins."

This verse-by-verse Bible study unpacks:➡️ Why Matthew begins with a genealogy to prove Jesus as the legal Heir to David’s throne➡️ The remarkable women included in the royal line and what they reveal about God’s grace➡️ Joseph’s righteousness, obedience, and faith in the midst of a life-altering crisis➡️ The fulfillment of Prophetic Scripture: Immanuel — "God with us"

If you've ever felt like your past or family background disqualifies you from God’s purpose, this chapter proves that God specializes in writing beauty out of broken lines.
