The night before 9/11, I was doing something completely normal—I went to the Virgin Megastore at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas to pick up Jay-Z's The Blueprint at its midnight release. Just a few hours later, everything changed.
I woke up to loud banging on the dorm doors with people yelling, "We're at war. Someone attacked New York City."
As a member of the U.S. Air Force, that moment instantly changed my life. What followed was one of the longest and most exhausting periods of my military career. We worked 24 straight hours on the first day and then continued with 20 consecutive days of 12-hour shifts as the military responded to an uncertain and frightening situation.
This episode isn't about politics—it's about what it was like to experience one of the most significant days in American history while serving in the military, how quickly life changed, and the memories that have stayed with me ever since.
If you remember where you were on September 11, 2001, or want to hear what that day was like from the perspective of someone in uniform, I hope you'll join me for this conversation.
