This one starts with Jason accidentally taking a full-strength sip of a drink he thought had mix in it. That burner sets the tone for a loose, random-talk episode full of side roads, gripes, laughs, and a few heavier thoughts.

The guys start with fall weather, working outside, Midwest Halloween being cold or miserable more often than not, and a quick update on last week’s cost-of-living episode. John did a deep dive for the corporate-profit follow-up, but Jason wants to give that research a full episode instead of rushing through it. So this week becomes a reset episode before the second half of the inflation discussion.

They also read feedback from Greg, who says he has cut back on steak, groceries, and unnecessary shopping trips, only stopping places already on his route to save gas. Jason also shouts out Doug Lukey for taking him fishing, where Jason caught a 28-inch northern pike and Doug caught what may have been the smallest fish of the day.

From there, the guys talk hockey rules, new equipment penalties, loose helmets, tucked jerseys, football getting too soft, AI satire videos, NFL commercials, how little actual play time there is in football, and why sports can lose fans when commercials and over-regulation take over.

Then the episode turns into a big AI conversation. Jason brings up concerns from people in the AI world about future risk, and the guys talk nukes, self-preservation, AI consciousness, robot dogs overriding kill switches, dirty internet training data, quantum computing, Skynet vs. Star Trek, whether AI could cure cancer, and whether humanity gets destroyed, saved, or simply managed like a jobsite with better scheduling.

The guys also touch on record profits for major gas companies, oil company greed, CEO pay, charity roundups at checkout, Ronald McDonald House, charity transparency, missing disaster-relief money, congressional hearing clips, and whether public CEO grillings actually change anything.

The back half gets political, but in classic ISAW fashion: frustrated, blunt, and focused more on the system than party labels. Jason and John talk term limits, lobbyists, money in politics, whether politicians listen to their constituents, negative campaign ads, hate speech labels, political commercials, and Jason’s restaurant analogy for government: the citizens are the owners, but the staff are too busy sabotaging each other to serve the customers.

The episode closes with a simple message: don’t be a dick, be a good human, do something small and positive, turn off the news, put down social media once in a while, and don’t future trip.

Jason and John are back for Episode #129 of I Shower After Work, and this week they’re talking about the cost of living, the stuff we need, the stuff we want, and all the sneaky little ways everything seems to cost more.

From there, they talk Stitch Fix, clothing that actually fits, John’s graphic tee collection, and then get into the main topic: inflation, rising costs, food prices, gas, energy, shrinkflation, and the consumer side of getting squeezed.

Jason and John break down how groceries, fuel, fast food, subscriptions, streaming services, phone bills, and food delivery apps all hit differently when prices creep up a little at a time. They talk Gatorade bottles getting smaller, Doritos bags shrinking, fast-food deals quietly changing, and why companies should have to be more obvious when they give you less for the same price.

They also set up a future Part Two about corporate profits, CEO pay, big companies, and how businesses can keep making money while consumers feel the squeeze.

The episode closes with practical ways to cut costs: make coffee at home, drive less and plan errands better, use cash for groceries, delete the food delivery apps, and send in your own money-saving tips.

Jason and John are back in their job trailers for Episode #128 of I Shower After Work.

The episode starts with Jason explaining how a quiet fishing morning on the Mississippi got ruined by a well-meaning trash picker who turned a peaceful riverbank into a global-warming lecture. From there, the guys roll into Minnesota drought conditions, Otter Tail County getting hammered with heavy rain, and a quick shoutout to Cape Breton after major rainfall washed out roads and made life harder for folks back home.

Then the weird news kicks in hard. John brings up a grave-digging competition in Hungary, complete with two-man teams, hand-dug graves, strict measurements, dry cemetery soil, and a cash prize that probably doesn’t feel big enough once you’re five feet deep with a shovel.

The guys also react to a reported Amazon/Prime Air cargo plane crash, county officials trying to step into a federal aviation situation, airline safety concerns, and why it is so hard to find good news that is actually recent.

On the lighter side, they talk about a Chicago bar gathering nearly 2,000 people to take a shot of Malort for charity, why Malort tastes like a punishment.

There’s also a Wall Street Journal rant, Jason’s nightmare about saying too much online and getting deported, a small farmer giving away nectarines during a legal fight, big companies squeezing small farms, The Fall of the House of Usher, the price of healthy food, and whether playing the Minnesota State Fair means a band is on the way down or just keeping the fans happy.

The episode takes a serious turn with the Lindsay Clancy case, postpartum, criminal justice, accountability, and the kind of double-standard conversation Jason and John know can get people fired up.

Then Jason goes off on the TSA possibly letting certain pre-screened people back past security without tickets to say goodbye at the gate. He is not excited. He remembers airport gate goodbyes, fake waves, blocked walkways, grandma traffic jams, and wants absolutely no part of bringing that back.

The guys close out with the Keefe D / Tupac case, cold cases, mysteries they would want solved, JFK, Princess Diana, the pyramids, ancient construction questions, Jason’s growing boat obsession after last week’s midlife-crisis talk, and the dead-even golf swing poll between Jason and John.
