    "thinking the business over, and trying to analyze my impressions" [YELL] One of the wonders of our Sherlockian hobby is that we welcome people of all experiences and all ages. It's never too late to get involved, nor is there a single path to finding an interest in Sherlock Holmes. This is exactly what Kyndall Potts discovered when she stumbled upon Sherlock Holmes in mid-life. Kyndall is an accountant-turned-artist whose path to Sherlock Holmes is unique in our annals. Tune in to hear about her gateway to the hobby, what led her to Sherlock, the iconic television series of the 2010s, and her desire to learn more. Fascinated with the show and how it gave her career a new direction and connected her with a broad community, the combination of Kyndall's left and right brain led her to launching a survey of viewers of that show, asking about their experiences with Sherlock Holmes before, during, and after the series. The results of the survey were the basis for a talk Kyndall gave at the Holmes, Doyle & Friends conference in Dayton in March of 2026, and will be published in The Sherlock Holmes Review next year. Kyndall takes us through her thinking and breaks down some of the fascinating 1,000+ responses she got to her survey. Our "Learned Societies" segment kicks off with Sherlockian society activities rounding out the first half of December.     "There was certainly an element of comedy" [3GAR] We find ourselves in conversation with veteran cartoonist and graphic artist Jeff Decker, BSI ("Dr. Grimesby Roylott") as we discuss the hilarious Sherlock Holmes cartoons he's drawn for decades, now brought together in a new collection from Wessex Press entitled "Is This a Joke, Mr. Holmes?" You'll hear about the unique way he happened to chose the first Sherlock Holmes story he ever read, and how he fell under the spell of the Great Detective while serving in the U.S. Navy, thanks to the ship's library. You'll hear about his early experiences joining and leading scion societies, and how his cartoons became an eagerly anticipated feature of The Baker Street Journal and other Sherlockian publications. We dive into his artistic roots, from his childhood copying of TV cartoons to art school, and his career as a successful graphic artist. We talk about the great animators and illustrators who shaped his style, from Chuck Jones and Tex Avery to the great Walt Kelly. And we wrap up with a look back at his first Baker Street Irregulars dinner, and the unusual story behind his investiture as "Dr. Grimesby Roylott."
