Somebody is stalking Rachel Marron, a bomb goes off, and the people around her still treat security like an optional accessory. We rewatch The Bodyguard (1992) with fresh eyes and a lot of questions, because this Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston romantic thriller is famous for the music but also packed with baffling choices that deserve a real breakdown.

We talk through the full story from the uneasy first meeting to the club stampede, the growing attraction, and the movie’s split identity as both romance and would be mystery. Along the way, we dig into why Rachel reads as entitled early on, how being kept in the dark about credible threats reshapes her reactions, and why Frank’s hyper professional persona starts slipping the moment feelings enter the job. We also get into the “price of fame” theme: fan obsession, opportunistic staff, and the way celebrity culture can turn danger into background noise.

Then we hit the wild back half: the cabin hideout, the Nikki twist, the hitman logic that barely holds together, and an Oscars finale with one of the strangest villain setups in the film. We close by rating The Bodyguard across plot and writing, acting and casting, production and cinematography, music and sound, and cultural impact, including a spirited debate on whether any soundtrack deserves a perfect score.

Shoutout and birthday wishes to Omari's mom who just celebrated her 71st birthday!
