  • The Legend of The Flying Dutchman
    2026/05/11

For centuries, sailors have told stories of a mysterious ship doomed to roam the oceans forever.

The legend of the Flying Dutchman is one of the oldest and most chilling maritime myths ever recorded. Said to appear during violent storms and thick sea fog, the ghostly vessel became a terrifying omen for crews crossing dangerous waters.

From whispered sightings in the 1700s to reports involving royal passengers, experienced captains, and entire crews, the story has refused to disappear. Some believed it was a warning of disaster. Others claimed the ship was cursed, trapped between life and death for eternity.

But where did the legend begin? Was there ever a real ship behind the tale, or did fear and isolation at sea create the perfect ghost story?

In this episode, we explore the origins of the Flying Dutchman, the most famous sightings throughout history, and why this phantom ship still haunts popular culture today.

Perfect listening for a dark night at sea…

During World War II, one name became closely associated with the horrors of Auschwitz: Josef Mengele.

A trained physician and officer within the Nazi regime, Mengele carried out a series of so-called medical experiments on prisoners, actions that have since become some of the most widely condemned in modern history.

After the war ended, he evaded capture for decades, moving across continents while international efforts to locate him continued. His disappearance, and the years he spent in hiding, added another layer to a story already defined by cruelty and unanswered questions.

In this episode, we examine his early life, his role during the war, the global manhunt that followed, and how his legacy continues to shape discussions around ethics, accountability, and justice.

In 1970, authorities in California made a discovery that would go on to become one of the most widely studied and debated cases in modern psychology.

A young girl, later known as Genie, had spent most of her childhood in extreme isolation, cut off from the outside world during her most important developmental years.

When she was finally found, her condition raised profound questions about language, human development, and the long-term effects of deprivation. Scientists, doctors, and researchers became deeply involved in her case, hoping to better understand what happens when a child grows up without normal social interaction.

But alongside the scientific interest came ethical concerns, controversy, and ongoing debate about how her case was handled.

In this episode, we explore Genie’s early life, her discovery, the intense attention that followed, and the lasting questions her story continues to raise today...
