このコンテンツについて

Welcome to "I Can Do This, Show Me How," a podcast where each episode is an adventure on a transformative journey. I'm Dr. Linda Rose, your guide through the realms of empowerment and self-discovery. At age 34, I stepped onto the campus of West Los Angeles College to enter the PACE Program, feeling utterly out of place. Having barely graduating from high school and after spending over a decade as a secretary in the space and technology sector, I was burdened by an inner critic that whispered I wasn’t college material. Yet, driven by a deep desire to change not only my life but that of my children, I chose to silence that voice. This decision marked the beginning of a journey that would eventually see me soar to earn an AA, BA, and MA in 6 years while I worked full time and cared for two children. Then I earned a doctorate degree in educational leadership at age 54 to later become a community college president.

Now, I want to share this journey with you. Whether you're contemplating a career change, transitioning from full-time employment, or seeking to rediscover your passions, this podcast is for you. We'll navigate the path laid out by Joseph Campbell's iconic 'The Hero's Journey.' From the ordinary world to the call to adventure, through trials and revelations, we’ll explore these stages through personal stories and insights from my years of teaching, leading, guiding, and mentoring.

You will hear interviews with individuals who have dared to transform their lives. Each week, we'll decode these mythical stages and apply them to our own lives—helping you find the courage to say, 'I can do this! Show me how!' Join me as we embark on a journey to find your path, reclaim, or create your narrative, and embrace the hero within.

Your adventure begins now!

  • Dream Stages and Real Struggles - Ranella Ferrer Gets Honest
    2025/07/24

Sometimes the path to our purpose isn’t clear or easy. It twists through doubt, reinvention, unexpected detours, and, all the while, your resilience continues to grow. Pursuing a passion, especially as a minority, in the face of industry pressures and personal struggles requires more than talent. In these moments, it’s of utmost importance that you stay rooted in who you are, even when everything around you is trying to change you.

In today's episode, I sit down with Ranella Ferrer, a soulful powerhouse, vocal coach, and artist who shares how music became both her anchor and her launching pad. We talk about everything from her dream stage (spoiler, it’s on top of a mountain), what it’s like to date while in the spotlight, negative self-doubt in a competitive, judgemental industry, and the discipline it takes to live a life that honors your calling. Ranella opens up about the pain of being separated from her mother for years, the lessons she learned from being on Khloe Kardashian’s Revenge Body, and the unshakeable faith that’s carried her through it all.

Tune in and listen to the twenty-fifth episode of I Can Do This, Show Me How! to hear how Ranella continues to defy expectations, not by chasing perfection, but by staying connected to her truth, purpose, and the music that’s always led the way.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • The moment Ranella realized music was her calling (2:51)
    • What Ranella learned about identity and representation as a Filipino-American in the music industry (11:32)
    • The emotional shift behind Ranella’s success story on Revenge Body (26:01)
    • Why Ranella has tried to walk away from the business many times and what has brought her back (33:39)
    • What Ranella hopes other young women of color can take from her story (44:16)
    • About some of the moments she experienced that shaped who she is today (47:58)
