I Am Afi G: What We Carry is a podcast about the things passed down through blood, silence, and survival — and what it takes to transform them.

Hosted by Coach Afi G, Spiritual Life Coach and Ancestral Healing Practitioner, each episode moves through the intersections of intergenerational trauma, emotional shadow work, ancestral healing, and lineage narrative — drawing from Afro-Diasporic spiritual traditions, epigenetics, and over time 30 years of healing practice.

This is a space for Black, Afro-Diasporic, and Latino/Latine communities — and for anyone who has ever felt the weight of what their family couldn't say out loud. Whether you're beginning your healing journey or deepening a practice you've carried for years, you'll find here what most spaces don't offer: a conversation that honors both your wounds and your lineage with equal reverence.

What your ancestors couldn't finish — you can.

What happens to your relationships when you choose to heal — and the people you love aren't ready to understand it?

In this episode, Coach Afi G names an ache that so many carry in silence: the loneliness of being the one who breaks the cycle. Drawing from his own journey, he speaks with honesty and compassion about the guilt, the misunderstanding, and the quiet grief that can come with growth — and offers a reframe that may change everything for anyone walking this road.

This is a conversation for everyone who has ever been made to feel that choosing themselves meant leaving someone behind.

A note on depth: this episode names and illuminates the relational cost of healing. The deep, guided work of generational repair is what Afi G leads inside the Shadow & Lineage Healing Circle.

  • The Mother Wound & The Father Wound in the Lineage
    2026/07/29

What if the wounds we trace back to our mother and father were never fully theirs to begin with?

In this episode, Coach Afi G explores two of the most primal forces that shape every human life: the mother principle and the father principle. Rather than treating them as simply the people who raised us, he approaches them as energies we each carry within: one that governs our sense of safety, center, and the capacity to love; the other that governs our sense of direction, footing, and reassurance in the world.

Afi G opens up about his own experience being raised in a single-parent home, and moves through vivid examples of how these wounds quietly shape adult lives: from the difficulty of feeling safe, to the struggle to feel sure. But the heart of this episode is a challenging and compassionate reframe: the invitation to widen the lens beyond blame, to understand the histories that shaped our parents, and to recognize the ancestral pattern seeking to be healed in our own lifetime.

This is a conversation about responsibility rather than condemnation, and about what becomes possible when we understand ourselves not as those chosen by the wound to suffer, but as those positioned by the lineage to heal.

A note on depth: this episode names and illuminates these wounds. The deep, guided healing of them is the work Afi G leads inside the Shadow & Lineage Healing Circle.

  • What the Body Remembers When the Mind Forgets
    2026/07/13

You've done the work. You've read the books, said the affirmations, sat in the therapy, learned to talk yourself down off the ledge. So why does the wound still not move?

In this episode — the opening of Movement Two of Season One — Coach Afi G reveals the answer that changes everything: you cannot think your way out of what was never installed through thinking. The deepest wounds we carry don't live in the mind. They live in the body.

Through vivid, real-life portraits, Afi G shows how trauma actually hides in the body.

This is a teaching about why the affirmations bounce off, why insight alone doesn't free us, and what it truly takes to convince the body that the war is over.
