Do you struggle with perfectionism, self-criticism, or the persistent feeling that you're never quite good enough? What if your constant efforts to improve yourself are making it harder to appreciate who you already are?
In this episode of Practical x Woo, we're exploring the complicated relationship between personal growth and self-acceptance, and how the pursuit of becoming a better version of yourself can quietly turn into an exhausting cycle of self-rejection.
Through a deeply personal memory of standing among the breathtaking mountains of Queenstown, New Zealand, feeling strangely numb and unable to appreciate the beauty surrounding me, I reflect on how easily we can begin treating our emotional experiences as another measure of personal success or failure.
We'll explore why perfectionism can make self-worth feel like something we have to earn, how self-awareness can become another opportunity for self-criticism, and what happens when we begin resenting the very qualities that make us human.
Inspired by my first Substack article, "I Don't Think You're Here to Fix Yourself," this conversation invites you to reconsider what you're really seeking through personal growth, and whether the acceptance you've been reserving for your future self might be something you can begin practising today.
Because your life is happening now, while you're still learning, growing, and becoming.
