I named her Toso, a Fiji term that conveys the idea of moving forward, advancing, or continuing on. I’m not from Fiji. Never been. But over 4 decades ago, I ran across a Fijian term, “bula”. It’s analogous to “Aloha” in Hawaiian. It’s a greeting and means both hello and good-bye. It also means “life” and carries the connotation that “life is good.” I started using it as a greeting on my internal memos in the company I was running at the time. I’d write, “Bula!” instead of some other greeting. Years later, when forming my company, Bula had to be incorporated, so I named my company Bula Network (not because of podcasting or publishing, but because of PEOPLE). So I figured this new scooter needed some Fijian name, too. Toso. It’s pronounced TOH-soh, with the emphasis on the first syllable: TOH (rhymes with “go”) and soh (also rhymes with “go”). So it sounds like: TOH-soh.
