In this broadcast we walk through Joel 2 and why a fast is how a people gets ready for something God said is coming. We talk about why day one of anything feels like nothing, and why that is not failure. And we hand you a plan so you are not sitting there at six in the morning wondering what to do with the time.

God gave me a word for August, and it came with an assignment.

"August, oh August, what will you do with the August I have given you? If you are willing to invest deep in the stock market of My Spirit in August, the dividend you reap will be great."

In this teaching I walk through the four things the Lord said to invest in this month, and why the greatest return you can reap is not an easier season or a bigger breakthrough. The dividend is more of God Himself.

Four ways to invest in the Spirit this August:

1. Study of the Word
2. Honest heart inspection
3. Getting rid of lies you have believed
4. Fasting for fragrance, learning to fast to know Him and not just to get something from Him

We stay in Scripture the whole way, from Hebrews 11:6 and Jeremiah 29:13 to Psalm 139, John 8, and the fragrance Mary poured out on Jesus in John 12. If you want your August to actually count, this one is for you.

There are seasons when you can love Jesus and still feel disoriented, disappointed, grieving, or far from steady. After the death of Jesus, the disciples knew that same confusion. They were afraid, scattered, grieving, and trying to make sense of what had happened. But after the resurrection, Jesus did not remain distant. He came near.

In this episode, we look at the forty days after the resurrection and how the risen Christ drew near to Mary, Peter, the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and those hiding behind closed doors. His nearness restored their perspective, gathered their hearts, and prepared them for what was ahead.

Psalm 73:28 says, “The nearness of God is my good.” This episode is an encouragement for anyone carrying grief, disappointment, fear, or spiritual disconnection. Jesus is not repelled by your weakness or absent in your sorrow. He still comes near, and His nearness is still our good.
