Have you ever prayed for healing, restoration, provision, or direction—only to feel like heaven was silent?

In this episode of the Ask A Pastor Podcast, Pastor Todd tackles one of the most difficult and deeply personal questions Christians ask: Why doesn't God answer my prayers?

Together, we'll explore what Scripture teaches about unanswered prayer, God's timing, and how to trust Him even when His answers aren't what we expected. We'll discuss how sin, unforgiveness, our motives, and faith can impact our prayers, while also recognizing that sometimes God's answer is "no," "wait," or simply beyond our understanding.

Most importantly, we'll discover that God's silence never means His absence. Even when we don't understand His plans, we can trust His character. Prayer isn't just about getting answers—it's about drawing closer to our faithful Father, who hears every prayer, knows every need, and promises that His grace is always sufficient.

If you've ever wondered whether God is listening or questioned why your prayers seem unanswered, this conversation is for you.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why God sometimes seems silent
    • What Scripture says about unanswered prayer
    • How to examine your heart and align your prayers with God's will
    • The difference between faith and trying to control the outcome
    • How to keep praying when God's answer is "no," "wait," or "not yet"
    • Why God's presence is greater than any answer He could give

No matter what you're walking through today, we pray this episode encourages you to keep praying, keep trusting, and keep drawing near to the God who is always listening.

  • It's about the Heart (Luke 7:36-50)

In this message from Luke 7:36–50, we encounter one of the most powerful pictures of grace in Scripture—a sinful woman who courageously lays everything at the feet of Jesus. While others saw her past, Jesus saw her heart. Her extravagant worship reminds us that no amount of shame, guilt, or failure can keep us from the forgiveness and love of Christ.

In this sermon, we explore the difference between religion that judges and a Savior who restores. Through the parable of the two debtors, Jesus reveals that those who recognize the depth of their forgiveness respond with deeper love and greater worship. Whether your struggles seem "big" or "small," every sin points us to the same need: the grace of Jesus.

You'll also discover why shame is never God's voice. The enemy wants us to hide when we fail, but Jesus invites us to run toward Him instead. Romans 8 reminds us that there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ. We don't have to clean ourselves up before coming to Him—we come just as we are, trusting Him to transform us.

At Hope Church, we believe everyone is welcome. Whether you've been walking with Jesus for years or you're carrying the weight of yesterday's mistakes, this message is an invitation to bring your brokenness, your questions, and your baggage to the feet of Jesus. Come as you are—but don't leave the same.

Join us as we discover what it means to surrender completely, embrace the love of Jesus, and experience the life-changing freedom that only His grace can bring.

  • Why Are There So Many Denominations? | Ask A Pastor Ep. 17
    2026/07/29

If Christians worship the same God, follow the same Savior, believe the same gospel, and read the same Bible, why are there so many denominations?

In this episode of Ask A Pastor, Pastor Todd explores one of Christianity's most common questions by examining the theological, historical, cultural, and human factors that have shaped the denominational landscape throughout church history. From the Protestant Reformation to modern church movements, you'll discover why divisions have occurred, when they have been necessary, and when they've been fueled by pride, preference, or tradition rather than biblical conviction.

More importantly, this conversation points us back to Scripture's vision for the Church: one body united under one Lord. While denominations can preserve important biblical convictions and strengthen ministry, our highest allegiance must never be to a denomination—it must always be to Jesus Christ.

    In this episode, you'll learn:

    • Why denominations exist and how they developed
    • The difference between essential Christian doctrines and secondary issues
    • What the Bible teaches about unity, humility, and truth
    • How Christians can hold strong convictions without hostility
    • Why our unity is one of the world's clearest pictures of the gospel

Whether you've wondered why churches differ on baptism, spiritual gifts, church government, or worship styles—or you've struggled with division among Christians—this episode offers a biblical perspective on pursuing both truth and unity.

As Psalm 133:1 reminds us, "Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity." The kingdom of God is far bigger than any denomination, and when believers love one another well, the world sees Jesus more clearly.

Join us as we seek to answer life's biggest questions through the truth of God's Word.
