Milo uses the lantern’s light to free the trapped sounds and helps transform the Quiet Wind into the Jingle Wind, restoring Christmas cheer—then the story ends with the town jingling again and “Merry Christmas” to the reader. They find Mr. Vellum injured near the sky’s “Gloom Knot” and learn the comet is trapped, so Juniper uses a heartfelt, giving wish to loosen the knot while the others power the Star Engine with a key to pull the comet back onto its path.
