Welcome back to Her Health, Her Way.
Today’s episode is different. It’s heavier. It's Vulnerable. And honestly…it might be the most important story we’ve ever shared.
This week, I sat down with my sweet friend Brittany and her three-year-old daughter, Paisley, a tiny warrior who’s been fighting for her life since the moment she arrived at 31 weeks. Born with kidney failure after the heartbreaking loss of her identical twin sister, Paisley has survived brain bleeds, major surgeries, failed recoveries, multiple resuscitations, and nearly 1,000 nights of at-home peritoneal dialysis… before most kids even learn their ABCs.
And yet?
She smiles. She fights. She shines.
In this episode, Brittany opens her heart and walks us through their journey; the miracles, the medical battles, the grief, the hope, the exhaustion, the advocacy, and the relentless love that keeps her going. She shares the reality of caring for a medically complex child, why she herself cannot donate, and how changes in the pediatric transplant system have made the wait longer and more urgent than ever.
You’ll hear us talk about:
- What life looks like for families managing dialysis every single night
- The emotional toll and the unbelievable strength behind it
- The misconceptions around organ donation
- How living donation actually works
- Why sharing this episode may be the first small step toward Paisley’s miracle
And most importantly:
Paisley needs a kidney.
A real, life-saving, future-changing kidney.
This conversation is raw, intimate, emotional, and unbelievably inspiring. It’s not just about one little girl... It's about every family fighting silently behind closed doors, every caregiver running on empty, and every miracle we don’t always see.
If you listen to any episode this holiday season… let it be this one.
