Merton of the Movies is a delightful comedy that follows the misadventures of Merton Gill, an eager dramatic artist from Simsbury, Illinois, as he sets off for Hollywood in pursuit of his dream to become a serious actor. Armed with a certificate from the General Film Production Company of Stebbinsville, Arkansas, proclaiming him a competent screen actor, Mertons journey is filled with humorous challenges and unexpected twists. Authored by Harry Leon Wilson, a beloved humorist of the early 20th century, this story has been adapted into film multiple times, with the last version starring Red Skelton in 1947. (Summary written by Margaret.)
