EPISODE 16 — FROM STRIVING TO SURRENDER 🤍

In this episode, we’re talking about the difference between walking with Jesus and performing for Jesus—and how striving can quietly become a condition of the heart that keeps us from truly resting in the grace of God.

We take a deeper look at Peter and his own struggle with striving, self-reliance, and trying to prove his devotion to Jesus. Because sometimes our greatest struggle isn’t that we don’t love God… it’s that we’re trying to accomplish through our own strength what God is calling us to surrender to Him.

But freedom is found in the presence of Jesus.

His grace is sufficient.
You don’t have to earn what He freely gives.
You don’t have to perform for what He already accomplished.
And you don’t have to strive when He is inviting you to abide.

This episode is an invitation to lay down the pressure, the performance, the self-reliance, and the need to prove yourself—and learn what it means to rest in His grace.

Pride doesn't always look like arrogance. Sometimes, it looks like insecurity, fear, comparison, and feeling unworthy.

In this episode, we uncover the two faces of pride — proudfulness and insecurity — and how both can quietly pull us away from God, our obedience, and even the purpose He has placed inside of us.

We go back to the origin of pride and explore how self-exaltation entered the universe through Satan's rebellion. But more importantly, we look at how pride can show up in us today.

Because sometimes the pride that says “I'm better than everyone” is easier to recognize than the pride that says “God can't use someone like me.”

And what happens when our insecurity becomes bigger than our trust in God?

We talk about the only way to truly combat pride: following the example of Jesus Christ — walking in humility, submission, obedience, and complete surrender to the Father.

The episode ends with a prayer of repentance, asking God to search our hearts and reveal every place where pride has taken root.

Pride can be loud. Pride can be subtle. Pride can even sound like insecurity.

So the question isn't, “Am I a proud person?”

It's:

“God, where is pride hiding in me?”

We say, “God, use me. Have Your way. I surrender.”

But consecration is when God begins teaching you what those words actually mean.

It’s when prayer stops being about asking God to bless the life you imagined… and becomes a place where you learn to trust Him with the life He imagined for you.

And that can hurt.

Because sometimes going deeper with Jesus means laying down the plans you prayed for, the things you thought you needed, and the version of your future you already pictured.

Not because God is trying to take something from you.

He’s teaching you that He can be trusted with everything.

Consecration is the slow, intimate process of saying,
“Jesus, even when I don’t understand You… I still trust You.”

And maybe that’s the deeper invitation:

Not just “God, use me.”
But “God, I trust You enough to use me however You choose.”

This episode is short because some conversations with the Holy Spirit aren’t meant to be explained for you.

They’re meant to be experienced with Him. 🤍
