  • Technology, AI and Education: Navigating our Children’s Future
    2023/10/20
To be healthy, it is so important to have a healthy community and nowhere is that more important than it is with our children and the kind of environment, the kind of education, the kind of society that we provide to them. Technology impacts that hugely. It is a powerful tool. And like any powerful tool, it can magnify both the positive and the negative. And that is a difficult thing to navigate for ourselves, let alone how we navigate it for our children. Our guest today is Matija Krmek. He teaches technology to grade school and junior high school students. In addition, as an instructor for Travel & Learn, a provider of courses for the European Union’s Erasmus Plus program, he teaches educators how to integrate technology into their classrooms. It’s an episode that is helpful for parents, educators and anyone concerned with navigating the effects of technology, with a wide range of topics: AI, social media, educational tools for kids and at what age they are appropriate, programs for children with learning challenges, support for gifted learners and more.

  • Listening - and why it’s not as easy as we think
    2023/10/13
Listening may be the most unappreciated aspect of communication. Yet, it is a foundation of successful relationships of all kinds. Dr Camille explores the differences in our brains when we are simply hearing, as well as when we’re really listening. She explores the social barriers to true listening and how to overcome them. True listening takes a generosity of spirit. It takes a belief that the other person has something to teach us. It takes empathy. People are always trying to tell us who they are. To hear that, we need to listen. As author Ram Charan said, “Truly empathetic listening requires courage — the willingness to let go of the old habits and embrace new ones. But once acquired, these listening habits are the very skills that turn would-be leaders into true ones.”
