- Last confirmed sighting was around noon on Saturday, November 9, when coworker Frank Alcott saw Norman loading at the Tamarack trailhead and waved.
- Overnight temperatures fell to 19°F by 2:00 AM as an unexpected Arctic air mass moved in on Friday night.
- Two trained scent dogs tracked Norman’s scent northward for nearly 1.25 miles and then both stopped simultaneously at Cold Spring Draw, a dry seasonal drainage.
- A gray external-frame daypack was found hanging from a broken branch at chest height about two miles northeast of the scent-loss point containing an unused rain shell, two wrapped granola bars, gloves never worn, an empty water bottle, and a phone with a dead battery.
