For years, residents of Fursatganj, Uttar Pradesh, lived in fear as middle aged and elderly men were found shot dead across nearby villages.
There were no obvious motives, few witnesses, and a disturbing pattern that police struggled to explain.
In 2004, investigators arrested Sadashiv Sahu, a 57 year old cloth merchant who reportedly confessed to 22 murders. His explanation was chilling: he claimed that killing brought him relief and allowed him to sleep peacefully.
But when he later disputed much of that confession, the case became even more complicated.
In this episode of THE UNFINISHED RECORD, Amanur explores the Fursatganj serial killings, the investigation, the reported confession, the legal questions, and the families left behind.
A true crime story from India about unexplained murders, an extraordinary police investigation, and the difficult search for justice.
