Deep in his private lab, Severus Snape finishes the most dangerous brew of his life, a basilisk venom Horcrux removal potion built from Zar’s willingly given fangs and every scrap of Dark lore he can find. While it simmers, he discovers Harry’s secret basilisk journal, complete with detailed illustrations and research notes that impress him enough to suggest publishing under a pseudonym. When Harry catches him reading, embarrassment turns into quiet pride as Severus calls the work enlightening and rare. Over coffee, cake and talk of Dumbledore’s Gaunt memories, they dissect Marvolo, Morfin and Merope’s story, rage at how little the Headmaster is really teaching, and plan more non verbal spell training. Snape openly says he is proud of Harry’s grades, Harry teases about Hermione being jealous of the Half Blood Prince notes, and the chapter closes with a sense of sharpened focus: the potion is nearly ready, the Horcrux will be challenged again, and father and son are very much in this war together.

He lets Zar out of his tattoo form to roam Hogwarts’s hidden tunnels, accepts his mother’s old annotated Potions book from Severus with strict warnings about forbidden spells, and heads into a full first day of sixth year classes. McGonagall tries to steer Neville away from his grandmother’s expectations, Harry quietly backs his friend’s choices, and then everyone walks into Defence to find Snape in full terrifying professor mode. A brutal non verbal spell lesson ends with Harry deliberately goading Severus into giving him detention, and Slughorn’s first Potions class crowns Harry the winner of Felix Felicis, leaving Hermione rattled when his Draught of Living Death outperforms hers.

On the Hogwarts Express, Harry uses an Extendable Ear to overhear Draco, Pansy and Zabini talk about Slughorn, Death Eaters and Draco's "bigger things," then walks straight into their compartment to drop a bombshell: Voldemort is a half blood named Tom Marvolo Riddle. At the Start of Term Feast, Harry notes fewer first years, refuses Hermione's plea to start over, and hears Dumbledore announce Slughorn as Potions Master and Severus as the new Defence professor while Ron and Neville react in horror. A private memory reveals how Harry and Severus bound basilisk familiar Zar into a living tattoo on Harry's arm, and a subtle spell from the staff table confirms Draco now bears the Dark Mark. The year opens with exposed truths, broken friendships and a castle on high alert as Dumbledore warns everyone that Voldemort is openly at large.

Severus Snape finally tests his first real Horcrux removal potion on Harry, and for a moment it feels like a Portkey tugging at his scar and stomach as the soul fragment shifts but stubbornly refuses to let go. Shaken yet hopeful, Harry trusts Severus more than anyone alive and knows they are at least on the right path. Life at Prince Manor settles into a strange calm filled with runs around the pitch, Dobby fussing, and quiet meals while the war outside gets darker and the world starts looking to Harry as a symbol of hope whether he wants it or not. Letters from Fred and George reveal that Weasleys Wizard Wheezes is booming and that they are paying Harry a real cut of the profits, while yet another Sirius letter compares him to James and pushes him toward Ron, making Harry more certain than ever that he has to be his own person. By September, ten outstanding OWLs, a new broom from Severus, and a forced birthday at Grimmauld Place have come and gone, and Harry boards the Hogwarts Express with Neville and Luna as his true inner circle. A run in with Romilda Vane, fan girls at the windows, and a Slughorn invitation to a private lunch he flatly refuses set the tone for sixth year: Harry is done being paraded as a prize and is going back to Hogwarts on his own terms, with Severus as his anchor instead of Dumbledore.

Dumbledore arrives at Prince Manor to “borrow” Harry for the evening, and Severus hates every second of not knowing the Headmaster’s true plan. After hiding Harry’s second wand and locking the training room, he watches his ward walk out the door with the man who once ordered him to make Harry miserable. Side-along Apparition drops them in Budleigh Babberton, where Harry is used as bait to lure Horace Slughorn out of retirement. In a house staged to look ransacked, Harry meets Slughorn, sees through the act, and endures being stared at like a prize specimen while the old Slytherin reminisces about Lily and former favourites. By the time Slughorn inevitably agrees to return to Hogwarts, Harry is furious at being manipulated yet again. Back at Prince Manor, Dumbledore casually announces “private lessons” and insists Harry keep his Invisibility Cloak on him at all times, leaving Harry seething – and Severus ready to hear exactly how badly the Headmaster used his son this time.

While Harry trains at Prince Manor, the war closes in elsewhere. Severus attends an Order of the Phoenix meeting at Grimmauld Place, quietly proud that Harry has destroyed an Auror-grade training dummy while Sirius seethes with jealousy. Around the table they mourn Emmeline Vance and Amelia Bones, debate a failing Fudge and a possible new Minister, and hear how Dementors are massacring Muggle families while Voldemort tightens his grip. Back at Spinner’s End, Severus endures Pettigrew, tends two difficult blood-red brews meant for the coming fight, and finally returns home to find Harry asleep over a book. In a rare, gentle moment, he carries the boy to bed, then the next morning watches Harry read a Daily Prophet that brands him “The Chosen One” and announces Scrimgeour, Aurors at Hogwarts, and open war – right as Dumbledore arrives to take Harry out for their first Horcrux-related trip.

Harry is up before dawn at Prince Manor, determined to hunt Horcrux leads the Muggle way. With Dobby’s help and a hoard of old Daily Prophets, he pieces together the deaths of Hepzibah Smith, the theft of Hufflepuff’s cup and Slytherin’s locket, and the Gaunt family murders that were blamed on Morfin instead of Tom Riddle. By breakfast he has added the Gaunt ring to his growing Horcrux list and earned another rare moment of pride from Severus. After they eat, Severus takes Harry to the ruined Gaunt shack, teaches him to feel and strip Voldemort’s wards, and almost gives up when the place seems empty. Harry finally spots a loose floorboard, finds the hidden ring, and nearly dies reaching for it before Severus yanks him back and reveals just how deadly the curse on it was. When Dumbledore Apparates in to check the shack, they slip out through a tiny bathroom window and escape unseen. Back in the dungeons, Severus destroys the ring with basilisk venom while Harry watches another Horcrux die, then gets patched up from nettle stings and thrown straight back into dueling practice. The day ends with praise for how far Harry has come, a letter from Dumbledore asking for Harry’s help on Friday, and plans for more training and ward study as the war and the Dementors’ breeding ground keep closing in.
