A chaotic brawl erupted near York College early Saturday, turning West Jackson Street into a violent scene with multiple injuries, arrests, and viral video. Outsiders allegedly provoked students, sparking a 40-person melee involving hooded figures, bear mace, and a 30-minute police delay due to a prior armed incident. Three women now face felony charges, while the city rolls out a 30-day enforcement plan to restore safety and curb nightly disruptions.

A 31-year-old man, Kyle Wiebner, received a 12-to-25-year prison sentence after being convicted of aggravated indecent assault and corruption of minors against an 8- to 9-year-old girl between 2017 and 2018. The victim, now 16, testified in court, revealing how the abuse shattered her life. Prosecutors detailed disturbing behavior, including hiding underwear in her room to justify entering her space. During sentencing, Wiebner offered vague remorse but never directly apologized to the girl. The sentence underscores the profound, lasting harm of such crimes and the justice system’s response.
