Faith Expressed in Love | Galatians 5:6–15

What good is claiming to have faith if that faith never produces love?

In Session 6 of The Book of Galatians: The War Within, Pastor Adam Aziz walks through Galatians 5:6–15 and unpacks one of Paul's most important revelations about the Christian life: “Faith which worketh by love.”

After commanding believers to stand firm in the freedom Christ has given them, Paul reveals what that freedom is supposed to produce. The Christian life is not about religious performance, outward appearances, or attempting to earn God's approval. It is about a genuine faith in Jesus Christ that expresses itself through love.

But Paul also issues a serious warning. The Galatians had been running well, yet someone had hindered them from obeying the truth. False teaching was spreading through the church, threatening to corrupt their understanding of grace and freedom. Paul reminds them that even a little leaven can affect the entire lump.

And then he makes a powerful distinction: Christian freedom is not permission to indulge the flesh. It is an opportunity to serve one another through love.

Faith is more than what you believe. Genuine faith produces something. And when faith is working the way God intended, it will express itself through LOVE!

Stand Firm | Galatians 5:1–5

What good is being set free if you keep living like you're still in bondage?

In Session 5 of The Book of Galatians: The War Within, Pastor Adam Aziz walks through Galatians 5:1–5 and unpacks one of Paul's most powerful declarations: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free.”

After reminding the Galatians that they are children of promise and not slaves to the law, Paul now issues a direct command: STAND FIRM! Christ has already accomplished what human effort, religious performance, and obedience to the law could never achieve. Yet the Galatians were in danger of exchanging the freedom they had received through faith for a system of religious obligation that could never make them righteous before God.

Paul makes it clear that freedom in Christ is not something we earn. It is something we receive by faith. And once we have received it, we must refuse to become entangled again in the yoke of bondage.

Why would someone who has been set free ever choose to return to bondage?
