Hey everyone, welcome back to this highly anticipated episode of the Hand Me Down Podcast! In this episode of the podcast, Natalia & Alan have very insightful conversations of queer Latina representation, as they learn about Christina’s journey into becoming a screenwriter, along with her impact on the HBO show Genera+ion (2021). After revealing each other’s zodiac signs, Christina begins to share her experience growing up doing theater and where her passion for performance storytelling began. Christina then reflects on how her experience with acting turned into a desire to write her own stories after the disappointment of not seeing enough complex Latine characters in the theater & film world. Finally the three dive into the impact of Genera+ion, with how ahead of its time the series was, as well as the experience of writing profound stories for ensemble queer characters. Christina discusses what it was like to write for the Latina queer characters of the show, which prompts the conversation around the importance of writing queer joy.
