They came searching for Captain Kidd's buried gold. What they awakened had no head.

On a lonely island off the Connecticut coast, three treasure hunters uncover an iron-bound chest believed to contain the lost fortune of the infamous pirate Captain William Kidd.

But something is watching from the darkness.

Footsteps echo through the trees. Strange sounds disturb the night. And when the men finally reach their prize, a terrifying apparition emerges from the shadows.

A headless guardian. Blue flames erupting from the earth. And a treasure that refuses to be taken.

In this special Halloween episode of The Pirate Republic, Captain Blackquill takes you back to the real story of William Kidd—from his days as a respected privateer to his disastrous voyage, buried treasure, and execution in London in 1701.

Then we sail into the haunted folklore of Charles Island, Connecticut, where an old legend tells of a supernatural guardian protecting a pirate's lost fortune.

Part pirate history. Part dramatized ghost story. One terrifying Halloween voyage.

Some treasures are better left buried. ☠️

The ghost story is a dramatic adaptation of historical folklore, featuring fictional characters and dialogue.
