I brought my upbringing. My father wound. My need for affirmation. My definition of manhood. The Army. Survival. Trauma. Ambition. And love. Over the years, I had to learn that my wife didn’t create my wounds. Marriage simply put me close enough to another person for some of them to become visible. Ken and I unpack lessons around identity, communication, emotional maturity, vulnerability, expectations, accountability and one of the hardest truths of all: You don’t marry someone’s potential. You marry the person standing in front of you. This conversation isn’t about telling you how to run your marriage. It’s two men looking back at what life, marriage, mistakes, growth and experience have taught us along the way.
