This week, we're going track by track through Gn'R Lies and diving headfirst into the wild, unpredictable world of Guns N' Roses. Coming off the monster success of Appetite for Destruction, the band had the nearly impossible task of following up one of the biggest rock albums of the decade. Instead of rushing out a full-length record, they gave us Gn'R Lies—part acoustic appetizer, part live-in-the-studio throwback, and completely Guns N' Roses.
Jason and Dee go behind the scenes of the album, explore the stories and craziness surrounding the band, and take a hard look at the controversies surrounding Axl Rose, the lyrics, the band's reputation, and the increasingly chaotic Gn'R machine. Was Lies simply a stopgap before the massive Use Your Illusion albums? Or does this stripped-down collection deserve more credit than it gets?
Turn it up, grab your acoustic guitar, and get ready for another Surely You Can't Be Serious album showdown! 🤘🎸
Next up: Alice in Chains' Jar of Flies!
