It’s been a while since we said farewell to Kristy-Lee however we haven’t been standing still. We have been working out what we want the podcast to offer and how it can help people grow their skills and confidence to lead and influence.

As our first project we will be digging into the wisdom within one of Juliet’s favourite leadership books over the coming weeks. Juliet and Antoanela Safca will be discussing how we can apply this wisdom in growing ourselves and leading our teams.

The book? It’s 'Where the Light Gets In' by Ben Crowe, and in this first episode, Juliet and Antoanela are discussing the perspective shifts Ben explores and some of the key themes of the book. We are also exploring how expectations shape us and some of the ways we can deal with these. And we talk about the fine line between caring for people and changing ourselves to meet their expectations (hello people pleasers!)

If you haven’t read the book, don’t worry, you don’t need it. But can we recommend you put it on your reading or listening list, as we think it really does have the power to change how you see yourself, how you deal with the world and how you lead.

We would love to hear from you about what you think about perspective shifts and how you deal with expectations, both your own and others’. You can share your experiences and ask questions at our Grow Your Influence Facebook page.

And if you would like to connect with us, including accessing free resources on this and other leadership challenges, you can do this and contact Juliet at Big Goals.

If you would like to learn more about what Antoanela does and work with her, you can find her here.

Juliet and Kristy-Lee are back from the Summer Series with an exciting announcement!

After 113 episodes, four and a half years, some epic conversations and shared ideas, Kristy-Lee has decided to step away from the podcast, and hand the reins over to Juliet moving forward.

From Kristy-Lee this is not goodbye, she is still hosting her People Powered Business Podcast which is celebrating 6 years and 312 episodes and counting. She also continue to cohost The Australian Small Business Show with her husband Matt where she gets to chat about all the trials and tribulations of running a small business in Australia.

This year she needs to do a little less, focus on her core business and support members of her People Powered Business community.

But Juliet is still here, and is excited to be taking on the show as a solo host, and continue to bring you leadership conversations, interviews with amazing guests and share her unrivalled expertise in leadership development.

Continue to tune in fortnightly, Kristy-Lee may even pop back in for a chat from time to time.

  • Stepping up into a Board Role with Georgie Somerset
    2026/02/16

As we head towards the end of Summer and life gets back into a rhythm, we have the second of our two conversations with Georgie Somerset where she shares with us her take on the transition to a Board role, talks more about the role of Directors and how and why senior leaders might step into Board roles, and about the expectations directors have of their executive team.

Georgie has served on a number of Boards over the years, including as a founding Director of the Red Earth Community Foundation. She runs the family cattle business with her husband and children, and is currently Deputy Chair of the ABC, Chair of Royal Flying Doctor Service (Queensland Section), and a Director of Redd Earth and the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR).

If this is a path that interests you and you are thinking of stepping into a Board role Georgie has some invaluable information and insights.
