What does it take to tackle Africa’s health crises in a world increasingly affected by climate change?

On this episode of Green Across Borders, I speak with Dr. Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe, Director General of the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), whose journey from witnessing HIV-related deaths in rural Tanzania to becoming a medical doctor and public health leader reflects a determination to improve healthcare and strengthen health systems.

We explore the challenges facing healthcare across Africa, the importance of resilient health systems, and the connections between public health, climate change and the environment.

This episode also examines how climate change is becoming a health emergency around the world, from extreme heat and wildfire smoke to flooding, food insecurity and pressure on healthcare services.

We also bring you environmental and development stories

From public health to cybersecurity and conservation, these stories reveal how the choices we make today shape our collective future.

Green Across Borders explores the people, ideas and stories connecting our planet, our communities and technology.

What happens when you have lived through war, imprisonment and decades of environmental destruction but you still choose to believe in the future despite the deafening silence by those who should take action?

In this first episode of Green Across Borders, I sit down with Nigerian environmentalist, activist, architect, writer and poet Nnimmo Bassey for a deeply personal conversation.

Nnimmo shares his story of fleeing war, being imprisoned because of his activism, and witnessing the destruction of communities and ecosystems in the Niger Delta and beyond.

We talk about activism, environmental justice, poetry, the climate crisis, the state of our planet and even discuss his family's pursuit of love across borders.

Nnimmo Bassey still has faith and this is his story.
