In “The Road Ahead,” Pastor Corey Pond casts a bold, clear vision for navigating life’s narrow path with unwavering faith. In Part 1 of Learning to Swim, Pastor Mike Stevens explains what the baptism in the Holy Spirit truly is — an immersion in God Himself. Just like jumping into a lake is a deeper experience than drinking water or getting rained on, the Holy Spirit invites us into a life fully immersed in His presence. We aren’t meant to jump in and get right back out — we are meant to learn how to swim and live daily in the Spirit.

This baptism is found throughout Scripture — in Joel’s prophecy, in all four Gospels, in Acts, and the New Testament letters. Pastor Mike shows that salvation and Spirit baptism are distinct experiences, and that water baptism is different yet again. Even if someone hasn’t been baptized in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit is still at work in their life — and God’s promise is that every believer can receive this gift today.
