During the late 1800s, four children of the Gros Ventre Tribe on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation attended Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania and died there. Their bones were not returned home until three were exhumed and identified in 2023. Members of the tribe journeyed to the east coast to bring them home. The fourth remains unknown. This episode dives into the history of Indian boarding schools and the repatriation of the children’s bones. This story is by UM student Vivi Ostheimer for last spring’s advanced audio capstone, Good Bones project
