Chris Smith is a retired laboratory technician. He grew up in a religious family, married a woman and had three children. He always knew he was gay and, after losing his wife, joined the community and eventually found love with a man. Chris talks about faith, family, love and self-acceptance.
Joining the LGBTQ+ community later in life can feel daunting. Some of the groups that Chris loves are The Devon Gay Men Meetup, which organises walks and social events, and the Open Table Network, a partnership of LGBTQIA+ people of faith.
Late in the Gay is a Substack, podcast and community for LGBTQ+ people who came out later in life created by journalist, podcaster and dog mom Yvette Caster.
