Have you ever felt like you needed to clean yourself up before coming to God?
Romans 5:6–9 reminds us that while we were still helpless—while we were still sinners—Christ died for us.
In this 20th episode of Glow Up in Grace, I share what God impressed upon my heart as I sat with Romans 5:6–9 through the practice of Lectio Divina, which I learned about through a recent She Shall Be Called Woman Bible study.
As I sat with this passage, several words and phrases seemed to jump from the page: helpless, appointed time, God proves His love, justified by His blood, and saved through Him.
And one truth became especially clear to me:
Grace before behavior. Christ before self-improvement. Salvation before transformation.
In This Episode:
• What it means to be helpless without Christ • Why we don't have to clean ourselves up before coming to God • The significance of Christ dying at the appointed time • How God proved His love for us while we were still sinners • Why the blood and the cross remain central to the Gospel • The difference between inspiration and the good news of salvation • Why those who know Jesus are called to share Him with others
This month also marks one year since I launched Glow Up in Grace, and I can't think of a more fitting message for Episode 20 than returning to the heart of the Gospel: Jesus Christ.
My prayer is that this episode reminds you how deeply God loves you, what Christ has already done for you, and encourages you to share that good news with someone else.
