  • From College Quarterback to Heroin & Meth — Now He Runs a Recovery Center | Brandon Franklin
    2026/09/24
Brandon Franklin went from playing quarterback and earning a college football scholarship to heroin, meth, homelessness, overdoses, jail, and drug court. I sat down with Brandon because his story shows just how far addiction can take someone — and how dramatically a life can change when recovery finally takes hold. Born in Fort Riley, Kansas, Brandon says he started smoking and drinking around 9 or 10 years old. Sports became a major part of his life, and he eventually became a high school quarterback. Then injuries introduced him to prescription pills. After breaking his ankle and later tearing the tendon that held his kneecap in place, Brandon began abusing the medication he was prescribed. He says he was eventually getting high before football games and taking significant amounts of Triple C’s. Despite everything happening behind the scenes, Brandon earned a scholarship to play football at the University of the Cumberlands. But addiction followed him there. Drinking, drugs, and stealing eventually got him kicked out of school. He tried joining the military but couldn’t pass a drug test, so he turned to synthetic marijuana. His addiction continued progressing into cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin. Then came jail. Treatment centers. Drug court. Homelessness. And multiple overdoses — including an overdose while he was already in drug court. Brandon entered long-term treatment initially trying to stay out of jail. But something eventually changed. He worked the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, worked with a sponsor, completed drug court, leaned into prayer, and began building a completely different life. The crazy part? He never wanted to work in recovery. Today, Brandon and his wife run Bluegrass Recovery LLC, providing structured recovery environments for men, women, and couples. Their program incorporates structure, housing planning, and work with horses while helping clients prepare for life after completing the program. His wife dreams of eventually opening a homeless shelter. Brandon wants to create a workout facility focused on transformation. In this episode, Brandon and I get into childhood substance use, football, prescription pill addiction, college athletics, heroin, meth, cocaine, homelessness, overdose, jail, drug court, AA, the 12 Steps, faith, entrepreneurship, recovery, and finding purpose in the same world he once wanted nothing to do with. Brandon describes his old life as being a “slave in my own mind.” Today, he says he is free from King Alcohol and King Heroin — and living a life with purpose. This is a comeback story. • Taken From Her Mother at 18 Months — From Foster Care to Film & Music | Samantha Dudley
    2026/09/10

I sat down with Samantha Dudley to talk about a life that started with circumstances she had absolutely no control over — and what she chose to build from them.

Samantha was taken from her mother at just 18 months old, along with her siblings, because of alcoholism, abuse, and neglect.

She spent much of her early childhood as an orphan, from 18 months until around eight years old, and remained in foster care until age 12.

But there was something Samantha had almost from the beginning:

    Music.

She says she has been singing since she was three years old.

Influenced by artists like Whitney Houston and Monica, Samantha continued developing her voice throughout childhood. At 12, she became the first singer to perform at a Diane Moore Dance Academy recital and later performed with different choirs and vocal groups.

Her story eventually expanded beyond music.

Since 2012, Samantha has been producing films alongside her partner, Chase Dudley, while continuing her career as an R&B/Soul singer and songwriter. She also brought those worlds together by contributing music to film projects including Payton's Burden.

But this conversation isn't just about singing or making movies.

I wanted to understand what happens inside someone who experiences childhood trauma, parental alcoholism, abuse, neglect, separation from siblings and family, orphanhood, and foster care — and still finds a way to create something with their life.

Samantha and I talk about her childhood, being removed from her mother, growing up in the foster care system, discovering her voice, music, songwriting, filmmaking, and continuing to pursue both film and music today.

That's what GITT Up with Adam Larkin is built around.

I want the story underneath what people see today.

    The childhood.

    The adversity.

    The decisions.

    The failures.

    The sacrifices.

    The opportunities.

    The turning points.

And what somebody did with the hand they were dealt.

  • Inside Hollywood: Producing Survivor, The Stand In & More | Danny Tepper
    2026/09/03

I sat down with Danny Tepper, a longtime television and film producer whose career has taken him behind the scenes of some major productions.

Danny has worked on projects including Survivor, America’s Next Top Model, The Stand In, Secret Celebrity Renovation, Expedition from Hell: The Lost Tapes, and more.

But I didn’t bring Danny on GITT Up to read through his IMDb credits.

I wanted to know what actually happens behind the camera.

What does it take to survive in television and film for decades?

How do productions really come together?

What happens when the cameras stop rolling?

And what does the audience never see?

Danny and I get into the reality of working in television and film, producing major projects, navigating the entertainment business, making opportunities happen, and what he has learned from years inside the industry.

We also talk about Survivor, reality television, Hollywood, filmmaking, producing, and the business behind creating entertainment that millions of people eventually see on a screen.

That’s exactly why I built GITT Up with Adam Larkin.

I’m interested in what happens before the success everyone sees.

Whether I’m sitting across from a CEO, entrepreneur, creator, producer, athlete, expert, or someone who rebuilt their entire life, I want the real story.

    The decisions.

    The failures.

    The risks.

    The opportunities.

    The moments that changed everything.

    And the work nobody sees.
