Daredevil, GTA, Resident Evil & Percy Jackson: MCM London Comic Con Special | Geektown Radio 507
    2026/10/27
This week, Geektown Radio heads to MCM London Comic Con 2026 for a special episode packed with superheroes, video game legends, fantasy authors, behind-the-scenes revelations, and a rather wonderful Jason Statham impression!Dave spent three days exploring London's ExCeL Centre, battling two storms, navigating enormous crowds, and walking approximately half the length of London every time he needed to get from the press office to a panel. But the effort was worth it, as we've got highlights from six fantastic (well, mostly fantastic!) panels, featuring some huge names from the worlds of television, gaming and geek culture. In this special episode:Daredevil: Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio and Wilson Bethel discuss the future of the Marvel series, the challenges of playing masked characters, and Vincent shares a fascinating memory of working with legendary director Stanley Kubrick on Full Metal Jacket.Grand Theft Auto: Ned Luke, Shawn Fonteno, Steven Ogg and Young Maylay reveal stories from GTA V and San Andreas. Hear why Shawn nearly quit the game, the surprising reason Franklin keeps saying "What?", details of a bizarre deleted Michael and Trevor mission, and the unexpected problems of motion-capturing Chop the dog. Plus, Steven has some strong opinions about how people talk!Resident Evil: Nick Apostolides, Eden Riegel, Nicole Tompkins, Stephanie Panisello, Lily Gao and Genevieve Buechner discuss bringing familiar characters back for Resident Evil Requiem, the games that inspired them, and a touching story about Eden playing the game with her children. We also discover that Lily didn't know what an NPC was!Percy Jackson & Camp Half-Blood: Rick Riordan and Annabelle Oh discuss the origins of the new Camp Half-Blood books, including how the project began as a potential Disney+ television spin-off. Rick also talks about the future of the Percy Jackson books, his interest in Celtic mythology, and how he decides which characters survive his stories. One Piece: Mackenyu discusses his dedication to playing Zoro, having direct access to creator Eiichiro Oda, and the surprising limits of the show's action choreography. Unfortunately, a promised 45-minute panel turns into something rather shorter, leaving Dave with a few questions of his own!Charm, Chaos and Command: Anjali Bhimani, Neil Newbon, Nolan North and Benjamin Byron Davis discuss the realities of an acting career. Nolan shares stories about Uncharted, casting Claudia Black and an unfortunate encounter while working as a carpenter. Neil pays tribute to BioWare following its closure, and Nolan delivers an absolutely brilliant Jason Statham impression, complete with suggestions for his next movie!Elsewhere at MCM, Dave chats with Twisted Comics' Neil Gibson about the upcoming Black Mirror: White Bear graphic novel and early discussions about a possible television adaptation of Twisted Dark. There's also plenty about the convention itself, the cosplay, the merchandise, the crowds, the weather, and why MCM remains such a brilliant celebration of everything geeky.A little warning: Some of the panel clips contain strong language. Particularly the GTA cast, who are exactly as restrained as you'd expect!Links & ExtrasGeektown: https://www.geektown.co.uk/Geektown YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/geektownHead over to the YouTube channel for our MCM London Comic Con Saturday Cosplay Masquerade video, alongside more interviews, gaming and convention coverage.Never Miss: https://www.geektown.co.uk/nevermiss/If you want to keep track of your favourite TV shows, sign up for Geektown's free Never Miss service and get reminders when they're returning to UK television. Thanks for listening, and don't forget to follow Geektown Radio wherever you get your podcasts!Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. Jackson, and a first look at the new Baywatch. In casting and development news, Nicolas Cage and Antonio Banderas are teaming up for True Detective Season 5, Apple TV adds a host of new faces to Down Cemetery Road, and Ryan Coogler's The X-Files reboot gets a full series order, with Disney+ confirmed for the UK.
