Gary Talks Physical Media: National Lampoon's Vacation 4K Steelbook
    2026/10/16
🚗💨 ARE WE THERE YET? THE GRISWOLDS HIT THE ROAD IN 4K! 🎢 In today's episode of Gary Talks Physical Media, Gary takes a nostalgic road trip back to one of the funniest comedies of the 1980s with a retro review of NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION (1983) and its Warner Bros. 4K Ultra HD SteelBook release! Directed by Harold Ramis, written by John Hughes, and starring Chevy Chase, National Lampoon's Vacation introduced audiences to the Griswold family and launched one of the most beloved comedy franchises in movie history. Chevy Chase stars as Clark Griswold, an enthusiastic family man determined to give his wife Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) and their children Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall) and Audrey (Dana Barron) the ultimate summer vacation. The destination? Walley World, the greatest family amusement park in America! Unfortunately, getting there proves to be anything but relaxing. From disastrous roadside stops and questionable accommodations to an unforgettable encounter with Aunt Edna (Imogene Coca), the Griswolds' cross-country adventure becomes an increasingly ridiculous nightmare. And that's before they even reach the amusement park! Along the way, the family encounters a memorable collection of characters, including Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie, John Candy as a Walley World security guard, and Christie Brinkley as the mysterious woman in the red Ferrari. More than 40 years after its original release, National Lampoon's Vacation remains a comedy classic, packed with quotable dialogue, unforgettable characters, and some of the most outrageous family vacation disasters ever committed to film. 📀 NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION ON 4K ULTRA HD STEELBOOK! In this episode, Gary revisits the movie and examines Warner Bros.' collectible 4K Ultra HD SteelBook edition. Here's what we're discussing: 🚗 The movie: Does National Lampoon's Vacation still deliver the laughs more than four decades later? 🌟 The supporting cast: Beverly D'Angelo, Randy Quaid, Anthony Michael Hall, Dana Barron, John Candy, Christie Brinkley, and more. 📀 4K picture quality: How does the film look in Ultra HD, and does the presentation improve upon previous home video releases? 🌈 Color, detail, and HDR: How well does the 4K presentation capture the film's distinctive early-1980s look? 🔊 Audio quality: How does the soundtrack, including Lindsey Buckingham's memorable "Holiday Road," hold up? 🎥 Special features: What does the release offer for longtime fans? 📦 SteelBook artwork and packaging: Is this collectible edition worth tracking down? Few comedies have captured the frustrations and absurdities of family vacations quite like this one. Whether it's Clark's increasingly desperate attempts to keep everyone happy or the endless disasters that threaten to derail the trip, National Lampoon's Vacation remains remarkably relatable. And for physical media collectors, revisiting a classic comedy in 4K is another opportunity to appreciate a film that has entertained generations. But does National Lampoon's Vacation still hold up today? How does the 4K presentation compare with previous releases? And is this SteelBook worth adding to your collection? Watch Gary's complete retro review of NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION on 4K Ultra HD SteelBook and find out! 🚗🎢 THE MOOSE OUT FRONT SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU! 👇 What's your favorite Griswold movie? Gary Talks Physical Media: Full Moon's Models Vs Werewolves Blu Ray
    2026/10/15
🐺🌕 BEAUTY IS A BEAST! MODELS VS. WEREWOLVES UNLEASHED ON BLU-RAY! In today's episode of Gary Talks Physical Media, Gary sinks his teeth into Full Moon Features' new Blu-ray release of MODELS VS. WEREWOLVES, a wild combination of beautiful models, bloodthirsty werewolves, and the outrageous B-movie entertainment that has made Full Moon a favorite among cult horror fans! What happens when the glamorous world of modeling collides with some very hungry creatures of the night? You get Models vs. Werewolves, a horror-comedy that promises plenty of monster mayhem, screaming victims, and tongue-in-cheek fun! 🐺 FULL MOON FEATURES RETURNS TO CREATURE-FEATURE TERRITORY! For decades, Charles Band's Full Moon Features has been synonymous with independent horror, outrageous concepts, practical monster effects, and low-budget genre entertainment. From the enduring popularity of Puppet Master and Subspecies to Demonic Toys and countless other cult favorites, Full Moon has built a devoted following by embracing the strange, the ridiculous, and the wonderfully unconventional. Models vs. Werewolves continues that tradition with a premise that certainly doesn't waste time explaining what kind of movie you're getting! In today's episode, Gary explores: 🐺 The film's outrageous models-versus-monsters premise 🌕 The werewolf designs, creature effects, and horror sequences 😂 The film's blend of horror, comedy, and B-movie absurdity 🎬 The performances, pacing, and overall entertainment value 💀 How the movie compares with Full Moon's long history of independent creature features 📀 THE NEW FULL MOON BLU-RAY RELEASE Gary also examines the physical media presentation, including: 🔍 Picture quality, detail, and color reproduction 🔊 Audio quality and overall presentation 🎥 Special features and supplemental material 📦 Cover artwork, packaging, and collector appeal 💰 Whether this Blu-ray deserves a spot in your Full Moon collection One of the things I appreciate about boutique horror labels is their willingness to keep independent genre filmmaking alive. Not every horror movie needs a massive budget or a complicated mythology. Sometimes all you need is a ridiculous premise, a few monsters, and filmmakers willing to have some fun. And with a title like Models vs. Werewolves, subtlety clearly isn't part of the marketing plan! But does the movie deliver the creature-feature chaos its title promises? Is it a fun addition to Full Moon's catalog? And is this new Blu-ray worth picking up? Watch Gary's complete review of MODELS VS. WEREWOLVES on GARY TALKS PHYSICAL MEDIA and find out! 🐺🌕 BEAUTY IS A BEAST! 📀 ABOUT GARY TALKS PHYSICAL MEDIA Gary Talks Physical Media explores the latest 4K UHD, Blu-ray, DVD, Limited Edition, and Collector's Edition releases, along with retro reviews, cult classics, international cinema, independent horror, and overlooked films from Full Moon Features, Synapse Films, 88 Films, Arrow Video, Radiance Films, Severin Films, Vinegar Syndrome, Scream Factory, Troma Entertainment, and more.
