  • Why Motivation Isn't Enough (And 4 Things God Wants You to Do Instead)
    2026/10/13

Think about how many times you've told yourself, I'm too old. It's too late. Nothing is ever going to change. I don't know what to do. I've tried everything. We can love God, read our Bibles, go to church, and still spend our days believing thoughts that don't agree with His Word. And those thoughts affect everything. How we see ourselves, how we respond to problems, the choices we make, and whether we take the next step God is calling us to take.

The world teaches us to get motivated. Jesus teaches us to follow Him.

And that's what we're talking about today.

    In This Episode

We're talking about why motivation isn't enough to change our lives and how God transforms us through the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). I'll share three biblical ways to change the thoughts that keep us stuck: taking our thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5), casting our cares on God (1 Peter 5:7), and choosing to believe His truth instead of being led by our feelings.

We'll also look at what God told Moses at the Red Sea (Exodus 14:15), what Jesus said to the man at Bethesda (John 5:6–9), and why following Jesus means putting our faith into action, even when we don't feel ready.

Because friend, you don't have to feel motivated to be faithful.

  • How to Trust God in Hard Times: What If He's Using This Battle to Build You? with Susie Larson
    2026/10/04

What if the battle you're asking God to end is also the place He's using to strengthen you and do something in your life beyond what you could ask, think, or imagine? In this powerful conversation with bestselling author and Susie Larson, I shared 2 sentences from her book More Than You Can Imagine that changed the way I'm walking through something in my own life: "Don't look back, don't rehearse, don't rehash," and "You'll find that unrestrained venting only weakens you."

    In This Episode

Susie and I talk about how easy it is to keep replaying what happened, talking about what we're afraid might happen, and trying to figure everything out from our limited perspective. We may think we're processing it, but sometimes we're actually weakening ourselves by rehearsing the same fear and disappointment. We talk about the power of our words (Proverbs 18:21), what it means to be still and stop striving (Psalm 46:10), and how to recognize when fear and hopelessness are shaping what we think and say instead of the truth of God's Word.

We also talk about trusting God when we can't see what He sees (Proverbs 3:5–6), remembering that He is working even when we don't understand what He is doing (Romans 8:28), and holding onto our identity in Christ in the middle of a hard season. Susie shares what she means when she says, "Faith is your vision. Trust is your decision," and why our battles must never be wasted on us. Instead of only asking, God, when are You going to change this? what if we also started asking, God, what do You want to do in me through this?

Get the FREE 7-Day Go to God First Devotional Here

When you need wisdom, peace, or direction, it's easy to Google it, ask everyone what they think, or keep trying to figure it out yourself. But what if your first response became: Go to God first?

In this episode of the Go to God First podcast, Kim Dolan Leto shares practical biblical guidance for how to seek God first, find wisdom in God's Word, take your thoughts captive, surrender what you can't control, and trust God when you don't know what's next.

You'll also learn a simple practice Kim calls "putting it on the altar" to help you surrender the outcome to God instead of continually picking it back up and trying to control it.

    • How to ask God for wisdom and discern what He's asking you to do next
    • How to "put it on the altar", surrender control, and trust God with the outcome
    • How to stop overthinking, take your thoughts captive, and bring fear back to biblical truth

    2026/09/15

Have you ever looked in the mirror and before you even realize it, you're picking yourself apart? If we know what God says, why do we keep having thoughts that lie to us? What if we could learn to hit pause, zoom out, and spot the lie underneath the thought before we let it take control?

Susie shares a simple three-step practice.

  • Don't Feel Like Yourself? Dr. Tabatha Barber on Menopause, Hormones & GLP-1s
    2026/09/08
If you've ever thought, "What is happening to my body, and why don't I feel like myself anymore?" this episode is for you. Maybe you're gaining weight even though you haven't changed what you're doing. You're exhausted but can't sleep. Your anxiety feels different. Your brain feels foggy. And maybe you've gone to the doctor looking for answers only to hear, "Your labs are normal." Today, I'm sitting down with Dr. Tabatha Barber, The Gutsy Gynecologist, for the conversation I wish more Christian women were having about perimenopause, menopause, hormones, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), GLP-1s, sleep, weight gain, and advocating for your health. We're also talking about how to seek answers and wise medical care while continuing to trust God with our bodies and our lives. In This Episode: ✦ Why hormonal changes can affect mood, sleep, brain fog, weight, and energy ✦ What women should understand about HRT and different treatment options ✦ Why "normal" labs may not tell the whole story ✦ How to find a knowledgeable provider and advocate for yourself ✦ What to know about compounded medications and GLP-1 safety ✦ Why sleep and nervous-system regulation matter in midlife ✦ How to take your thoughts captive and renew your mind ✦ Why trusting God and seeking wise medical care belong together One of the things I hope you take away from this conversation is to be proactive about your health. We can trust God and ask questions. We can pray and get the labs. We can have faith and seek wise medical care. We can care for our bodies without making our bodies our idols. Go to God first. Get wisdom. Ask questions. Advocate for yourself. And take the next right step. About Dr. Tabatha Barber Dr. Tabatha Barber is a triple board-certified physician in obstetrics and gynecology, menopause, and functional medicine. Known as The Gutsy Gynecologist, she helps women better understand their hormones, gut, and metabolism through a whole-body approach. • When You're Not Okay: How to Find Strength in God
    2026/09/01
Are you tired of saying everything is okay when it's not? Are you showing up, doing what needs to be done, but crumbling inside? Friend, I've been there. I recently went through something traumatic that shook me deeply, and I realized I couldn't just keep pushing through. My "suck it up" broke. And maybe it needed to. In this very personal episode of Living God's Way, I'm sharing why I changed my mind about hormones and what God is teaching me about what it really means to be strong. Because strength isn't about proving how much you can handle. Strength is knowing where your strength comes from. In This Episode Why I changed my mind about hormone replacement therapy after six yearsThe comment on my gym selfie that makes me laugh nowHow a difficult season affected my sleep and changed my perspectiveWhy Gen X women may need to rethink the "suck it up" mentalityThe difference between worldly strength, self-reliance, and godly strengthWhat I'm learning about estrogen, progesterone, menopause, and HRTWhy lifting weights and maintaining muscle matter as we ageThe importance of protein, whole foods, sleep, and caring for your bodyWhy asking for help and advocating for your health are not signs of weaknessWhat God is teaching me about depending on Him when I don't feel strong Important: I'm sharing my personal experience, not giving medical advice. Hormone therapy has benefits and risks that vary by individual. Please talk with a qualified healthcare professional about your symptoms, health history, and whether HRT or other treatment options may be appropriate for you. And stay tuned because I'll also be talking with Dr. Tabatha Barber about menopause and hormones so we can go deeper into the medical side of this conversation. Scriptures Psalm 46:1 NKJV "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble." Matthew 11:28 NKJV "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." 2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Proverbs 31:25 NKJV "Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come." Psalm 92:14 NKJV "They shall still bear fruit in old age; They shall be fresh and flourishing."
