概要

Give To Grant is a podcast about the people, causes, and projects moving Grant County, Indiana forward, and how they get funded.

Hosted by the Community Foundation of Grant County, the show goes inside the work happening across Marion and the surrounding communities, and introduces you to the people doing it. These are conversations, not lectures. Nobody is being sold to, and the only thing we ever ask for comes in the last thirty seconds.

WHAT YOU'LL HEAR

Behind the Grant goes inside a funded project, told by the people who received the money. What they applied for, what they were up against, and what actually happened after the check cleared.

Fund Spotlight is the donor side of the house. A family who started a fund in someone's memory. A business owner who built one for their employees. A couple who decided to leave something behind. Conversations about why people give, in their own words, without a brochure in sight.

Scholarship Spotlight follows the students. More than 120 scholarship opportunities move through the Foundation every year, and every one of them has a donor on one end and a student on the other. We put them in the same room.

The Build follows the long projects, starting with the Riverfront Canvas public art initiative in downtown Marion. From the first argument about whether murals belong on a riverfront, to the call for artists, to the morning a building-sized piece goes up.

Grant County Voices is wide open. Mayors, nonprofit directors, employers, people who left and came back. Anyone shaping what this county becomes.

On the Table takes on what Grant County is actually talking about. Workforce and why people leave. Housing. Childcare. Recovery and mental health. Food access. Downtown. We name the problem honestly, with real numbers, then spend the rest of the episode with the people already doing something about it.

Easy as Pie is the short explainer. What a community foundation actually is. How endowment works. How to start a fund. What a will does, and why everyone puts it off. Plain English, no jargon.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF GRANT COUNTY

Since 1984, the Community Foundation of Grant County has been connecting people who care with causes that matter. Every year the Foundation grants more than a million dollars back into this community, supporting the nonprofits, programs, and projects that improve quality of life across Grant County, and offering more than 120 scholarship opportunities to local students through a single universal application.

The Foundation does three things. It builds endowment, so a gift given once keeps giving. It makes local grants, funding the organizations and ideas doing the work on the ground. And it provides community leadership, convening partnerships no single organization could build alone.

The Foundation has a long habit of accentuating the positive, which is not the same as pretending everything is fine. Hard subjects get named plainly here. They just do not get the last word. This podcast is where that work gets told by the people living it.

    2026/10/25

Most people in Grant County have heard of the Community Foundation. Far fewer could tell you what it actually does.

In the first episode of Give To Grant, Dawn Brown, CEO and President of the Community Foundation of Grant County, gives the one-sentence answer, and then the real one.

She explains why a community foundation is not a charity you give to once, how the endowment model works in plain language, and where the money actually lives, who invests it, and who is watching it. She walks through the difference between a donor-advised fund, a designated fund, and an unrestricted fund, and why that distinction matters more than most donors realize.

She also gets into the part of the work that has nothing to do with writing checks: the convening role, where the Foundation brings people to a table no single organization could set on its own.

And she takes on the three misconceptions she hears most often around Grant County.

If you have ever wondered where charitable money goes after you give it, start here.
