What does it mean to move from healing into embodiment? Healing is meant to prepare us for living, not keep us trapped in endless self-analysis.
Building on last week’s conversation about understanding when enough is enough, this episode reflects on what happens when we reach a place where the wound is no longer open, but we’re still relating to ourselves as if we are constantly in recovery.
I share how healing can sometimes turn into hypervigilance, self-surveillance, and over-identifying with our pain — and why there comes a point where we must trust the work we’ve done and begin embodying the wisdom we’ve gained.
In this episode, I explore:
• The difference between healing and embodiment • How hypervigilance learned during trauma can follow us into our healing journeys • Why self-awareness can become self-surveillance if we’re not careful • What it means to trust the work you’ve already done • Moving out of overthinking and into lived experience
This week’s journaling practice invites you to write a letter to the healing version of yourself — the version that carried you through survival, fought battles nobody else could see, and guided you back home to yourself.
Reflect on:
• Everything that version of you protected you from • The wisdom and tools they gathered along the way • How far you’ve come because of their care • What it would mean to finally let them rest
