In this episode of the Okie Smokin Podcast, I sit down with Andy from Bones & Brews BBQ to talk backyard barbecue, beer, YouTube, and how his channel has evolved over six years.
Andy originally planned to mix BBQ recipes with beer reviews, but over time he discovered that viewers were really showing up for the food. We talk about how his channel got started, the smoked shotgun shells video that became one of his biggest hits, his love for smoked wings, pimento cheese, Weber Smokey Mountains, and why he eventually changed his mind about pellet grills.
We also get into some good old-fashioned BBQ debates: beans in chili, wrapping ribs, fat cap up or down, binders, charcoal vs. pellets, low-and-slow vs. hot-and-fast, and whether a good brisket really needs sauce.
Andy also shares what he's learned from six years of creating YouTube videos, why consistency matters, dealing with negative comments, creating affordable recipes, and why sometimes the video you least expect is the one that takes off.
If you enjoy backyard cooking without all the competition-BBQ pressure, you'll enjoy this conversation.
