Dr. Hakeem Ali-Bocas Alexander shares a deeply personal journey through vehicles, loss, resilience, and the lessons learned along the way. From a 1966 Mustang stick shift to a 2023 Toyota Crown, each car marks a chapter in a life lived fully.
· Learning to drive manual transmission after a friend's heavy drinking night and a 20-mile clutch-testing adventure
· Building scaffolding underwater for Civil War forts and music videos—skills that kept reappearing throughout his career
· The emotional weight of buying a brand new 2017 Hyundai Elantra in a moment of rage, then driving it across the country
· Losing his wife Flor in 2019, getting stuck in China until 2021, and rebuilding his life from scratch
· Riding a bicycle 40 miles daily for work, dropping from 221 to 180 pounds, and proving resilience comes in many forms
· Discovering Toyota reliability and why he calls the Crown the best vehicle he's ever driven
This episode delivers more than car talk. It's about starting over, finding stability after chaos, and recognizing quality when you see it.
Dr. Alexander's story weaves together music, travel, grief, family bonds, and the simple joy of a dependable ride.
