Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the most famous architects in American history. But before Fallingwater, the Guggenheim, and a career that would span more than seven decades, he was a 19-year-old kid who arrived in Chicago looking for work.

In this episode of Great Travel School Podcast, we're following Wright from Chicago to Oak Park and beyond to explore how he helped reinvent the American house. We'll look at the birth of Prairie Style, why Wright wanted architecture to grow naturally from the landscape, and the tiny design details, from horizontal lines to carefully colored mortar, that completely changed the way a house could look and feel.

But Wright's story isn't just about architecture. We'll follow the extraordinary, and often messy, life behind the buildings, from his early years working for Louis Sullivan to his relationship with Mamah Borthwick Cheney and the horrifying tragedy at Taliesin. We'll see how Wright's career nearly disappeared before one house built over a waterfall launched one of the greatest comebacks in architectural history.

Along the way, we'll ask a bigger question: What happens when someone decides the old rules no longer make sense, and starts imagining an entirely new way to live and create?
