概要

Founders Music Lab is the podcast born out of our own startup journey to build a live music space and startup incubator in Waterloo, Ontario. It is a space that supports professional and emerging musicians along with early stage startups. Hosted by founders Bill, Steve, and Ed, each episode features a surprise guest. It could be a founder, artist, entrepreneur, educator, or first follower who is helping shape creative culture from the ground up. We talk about the parallel paths of artists and startups, the hustle, the self doubt, the breakthroughs, and what it really takes to launch something new. Our project is about more than just great performances and pitch decks. We offer programs for people who want to connect or reconnect with music, explore their creativity, or find others doing the same. Whether you're getting back into singing after years away or trying something new for the first time, there is a place for you here. The same goes for aspiring founders who want to test an idea, grow a project, or find support among peers on a similar path. This space is for the entire community. Whether you are a fan of live music, curious about innovation, or just looking for a good night out, you are part of what makes this work. Every great scene needs an audience. Every bold idea needs a place to land. Pull up a chair. Join the lab.Copyright 2026 Founders Music Lab 経済学 音楽

  • A Career as a Drummer with Donnie McDougall
    2026/02/10

It is not easy to make a living as a musician, but when you have a passion and you're a self professed weirdo, anything is possible. Donnie takes us through a masterclass of what it takes to make it.

Unwavering perseverance, self awareness that gets challenged, and no one telling him he couldn't, all enabled the development of a rich and rewarding life.

What makes this even more enlightening is how he sees himself now. Seems to be a typical reflection from all the greats.

Love this guy! So please, grab an Eco Coffee, sit back and enjoy hearing Donnie McDougall's coffee chat!

  • Overcoming her FML with Martha Cottrill (Part 2/2)
    2026/02/03

An FML without a safety net. She’s had quite a few, but always with a safety net. In this episode we go through her last FML that didn’t have one. And it’s a critical perspective that we can all learn from.

Martha shares how she hit rock bottom and how she crawled out. Great lessons on what it takes and the Aha point. The strength of self reflection and the power of embracing a hard decision.

We also discover that she may have been responsible for the COVID outbreak (that’s called a tease). Seriously though, she is now living her best life and enjoying the ride.

So please, grab an Eco Coffee, sit back, listen and enjoy!

  • The Learning Journey with Martha Cottrill (Part 1/2)
    2026/01/27

Do not judge a book by its cover. Martha, at first glance, seems like a sweet, happy go lucky person. Au contraire! While she is sweet, this powerful, driven woman seeks to understand, is driven by knowledge and is relentless and thorough at solving problems. What an incredible inspiration!

In the first of her TWO episodes we talk about parenting, discovery, influence and determination. We talk about her incremental path that led her to attain a science degree (her worst high school subject), an MBA, a CPA, start up a company before graduation and discover who she really is.

This is definitely an episode for parents, for kids, and for anyone trying to discover their true self. Please, grab an Eco Coffee, sit back, listen and enjoy!
