Each week, we’ll feature the story of a parent, caregiver, or person who built a practice, a community, a product or a business, to address the problem they faced. We’ll spend time with them on the challenges they faced, to what got them through their hardest time, and ultimately what drove them to create something new, and the lessons they learned along the way.     Sarah Goldthwait is a trained death doula and the founder of Life Lantern, a digital platform for whole-person end-of-life planning.

    After years in health tech leadership roles with a focus on the elder care space, Sarah is dedicated to improving the process that shapes end of life decisions. Sarah's passion for this work began watching her godfather open a residential hospice during her childhood. There, she saw how beautiful and centering the end of life experience can be when approached with thoughtful, articulated planning that honors the dying and those who love them. In this episode, Sarah shares how specificity can help the grieving, how approaching paperwork as practically as possible can help with the hardest parts, and how talking about dying can open you up to new conversations.

    Sarah lives on the outskirts of Minneapolis with her family, where they welcome each of Minnesota's distinct seasons. Yes, even the dark one.

    It didn't exist, so we built it.

    We built Wyth, a tool to help caregivers manage family paperwork and get services faster. I am Anne and I am Katie, lifelong friends who co‑founded Wyth and host Founded with Heart.

    Our work began because our children needed care and the paperwork to get that care was slow and heavy. Henry’s diagnosis and Jack’s diagnosis showed us how much time families spend filling forms and chasing services.

    A community tragedy later made it clear that people need quick access to records and support. We tell origin stories of people who built something out of life's hardest moments. We hope to offer community, inspiration for people facing challenging times, and practical help for those who are supporting them.
