The truth is, that's one of the biggest lies the enemy wants you to believe.

In this episode of Foundational Truths for Life, Matthew Curtis explores what Jesus really meant when He said, "Follow Me." The biggest misconception about surrendering your life to God

What Jesus meant when He asked people to leave everything and follow Him

Why God's plan is always better than your own

  • How to Build Your Foundation (Pt. 15) | Acknowledge | "Following Jesus" (Pt. 5)
    2026/07/10

What does it really mean to follow Jesus?

When Jesus called Peter, Andrew, James, and John, they immediately followed Him. Their response reveals three important truths about what it means to follow Jesus today:

    • They acted on Jesus’ call immediately.

    • They stopped doing what they previously thought they were supposed to do.

    • They didn’t let family keep them from following Jesus.

In this episode of our Acknowledging Jesus series, we continue exploring what it truly means to be a disciple of Jesus—not someone who follows from a distance, but someone who trusts Him enough to go wherever He leads. We also discuss:

    • Why you cannot follow Jesus from afar.

    • Why being a disciple involves more than simply watching church from home.

    • What Jesus taught the two men who wanted to follow Him in Matthew 8.

    • Why following Jesus doesn’t look the same for everyone.

    • Why you can trust that God’s plan for your life is always the best path.

Following Jesus isn’t about comparing your calling to someone else’s.

It’s about trusting Him enough to say, “Yes, Lord,” and following wherever He leads.

    📖 Key Scriptures:

    Matthew 4:18-22

    Matthew 8:18-22

    Proverbs 3:5-6

If you’ve ever wondered what it truly means to follow Jesus, this episode will encourage you to trust Him, obey His leading, and confidently walk the unique path He has prepared for you.

  • How to Build Your Foundation (Pt. 14) | Acknowledge | "Following Jesus" (Pt. 4)
    2026/06/19

Have you ever found yourself wondering:

“What am I missing as a Christian?”

You know you’re saved. You believe in Jesus. You know Heaven is your home.

    But something still feels off.

    You feel like you’re drifting.

You feel like you’re going through the motions.

You feel like you’re not growing the way you thought you would.

You sense that God has more for you, but you’re not sure why you’re not experiencing it.

The truth is, many Christians know Jesus as Savior but never fully learn what it means to follow Him.

Salvation was never meant to be the finish line.

Jesus didn’t simply invite people to believe in Him. He invited them to follow Him.

In this episode, we continue our series on Acknowledging Jesus by exploring one of the most important questions every believer must answer:

Am I truly following Jesus, or am I simply believing in Him from a distance?

    We’ll discuss:

    • Why many Christians feel like they’re drifting in their walk with God

    • What Jesus meant when He said, “Follow Me”

    • Why salvation is the beginning of the journey, not the end

    • What it means to deny yourself and take up your cross

    • Why holding on to your own plans can keep you from God’s plans

    • How God reveals His purpose as you follow Him

    • The rewards Jesus promised to those who follow Him wholeheartedly

Many believers think following Jesus means giving something up.

But the reality is that following Jesus leads you into the life you were created for.

God’s plans are not smaller than yours.

    They’re greater.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re drifting, or missing something in your walk with God, or wondering if there’s more to the Christian life than what you’re currently experiencing, this episode is for you.

  • How to Build Your Foundation (Pt. 13) | Acknowledge | "Following Jesus" (Pt. 3)
    2026/06/03

Welcome back to “Acknowledging Jesus” Part 3. We are still discussing the third phase (within the four successive phases) every believer goes through when building their firm foundation upon Jesus.

We are still discussing the third phase (within the four successive phases) every believer goes through when building their firm foundation upon Jesus. In this third stage, we continue to explore what it truly means to acknowledge Jesus by following Him.

Many Christians know Who Jesus is. Many believe in Him. But acknowledging Him goes beyond belief—it means trusting Him enough to follow Him.

Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

To acknowledge Jesus is to follow Him in all your ways. It means trusting His plan above your own, agreeing with His Word above your circumstances, and surrendering your future to His leadership.

In Episode 22, we talked about the call to follow Jesus. In this episode, we go deeper and ask an important question: Do you trust Him enough to follow Him completely?

Many people fear that fully following Jesus will cause them to miss out on something. But the truth is that God’s plans are always better than our own. Following Him isn’t about losing your life—it’s about finding the life He created you to live.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Why nobody can believe God for you—you must personally trust Him as Savior, Healer, Provider, and Lord.

    • Why agreeing with God is more powerful than agreeing with your problems.

    • Why seeking your own plans first and God’s plans second will always leave you unsatisfied.

    • How following God’s plan is one of the greatest gifts you can give your family.

    • What it means to go all the way with Jesus.

    • Why God is leading His people into greater, better, and more than they’ve experienced before.

Following Jesus doesn’t make life worse and worse. As you walk with Him, trust Him, and obey Him, your life becomes sweeter and sweeter because you are walking in the path He designed for you.

If you’re ready to stop leaning on your own understanding and start trusting God with every area of your life, this episode is for you.

That’s what happened to Peter — and it’s exactly how God still builds our foundation today.

In this message, we walk through the same four phases every believer experiences:

You can sit in church for years and never change…

  • How to Build Your Foundation (Pt. 9) | Look to the Rock
    2025/10/18

    Hebrews 4:2 says,

“For unto us was the Gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.”

The Word of God is powerful — but it only produces results when it’s mixed with faith. 🌿

You can hear the Word every Sunday, every week, every day…

but it won’t profit you until you believe it, receive it, and mix your faith with it.

When you put faith behind what you hear, the Word becomes alive in you — producing fruit, power, and change. 🙌
