  • Oh General Mosquera!!!

I know, I know.. My love for Tomas.. it’s become obsessive.. I can’t eat, I can’t sleep - my mind is full of him.. When I close my eyes, he is here at my side..

I must be losing my senses.. I smell his scent, that fragrant cologne of virility, horses and sweet tobacco..

  • Bogota in the 1840's
    2026/06/07

What were the hygiene practices in this era? What were the standards of cleanliness? While television mini-series like “Blood Ties,” “Bolivar” or “One Hundred Years of Solitude” depict Colombia in the 19th century, these depictions are not always accurate or illuminating. They often depend on stereotypes or theatrical tropes for dramatic effect. Today, we will explore this topic using historical citations and documents to re-construct life in the 1840’s. Join us, with our narrator, Professor Franklin Boutin Soto.

(Of course, kudos to Netflix for offering all of these great Colombian series.. )

**Technically, Bolivar depicts the period of 1800 - 1831.
