Running is without a doubt a predominantly white-coded space and while less than 1% of the global population run marathons, of that 1%, only around 1% are African American.

Dr. Tiffany Chenault let her curiosity guide her on a remarkable journey to run 50 half marathons in the 50 stats of America and investigate the relationship between race and racing. Along the way she discovers what running looks like across the country, what it can look like, and even has some personal revelations along the way.

In our society, people are often told to eat less to be healthy. This has lead to a culture of villainizing certain foods and glorifying others (think 'carbs are bad and 'protein is king').

This should not be the case for people in general and especially not for folks who run.

As my runs are getting longer, I am realizing how important it is to be eating enough for my energy needs. There is a remarkable difference between how I feel when I eat properly before a run versus when I don't. The same goes for fueling while I'm running and when I'm trying to kick-start post-run recovery.

But it's also overwhelming! So, if you're like me and a bit confused about the basics of fueling as a runner, then this episode featuring registered nutritionist Poppy Hawe from NutriFit Coaching will help!

  • Run Like a Mother
    2026/07/08

Moms- we all have them- and if we are fortunate enough to have a good relationship with ours, that connection lasts a lifetime.

But mothers are so much more than the people who tuck you in at night and cook you good (hopefully) food. They have an identity and a life independent from motherhood.

As I've been running, I was curious about the intersection between running and the moms who do... because there are A LOT of them.

Ashley Hamer-Pritchard is a podcaster, serial runner, and mother of two. She shares the highs and lows of running and motherhood, how she overcame the physical and mental challenges associated with both, and why she keeps coming back.
