Somewhere along the way, a lot of us picked up a checklist. Vote this way. Never say that word. Don't have too much money. Sit in the right pew with the right people who believe the right things. And if you didn't check every box, the message - spoken or not - was that you weren't really following Jesus.
But that's not what He asked for.
Jesus called Peter and Paul to the exact same thing, and they didn't end up looking anything alike. One's eating with people he was never supposed to eat with. The other's still working the temple crowd back home. They argue about it — to each other's face. Same Jesus. Completely different obedience.
This week, we're talking about why "follow me" was never the same thing as "be like everyone else in this room." What happens when the standard isn't a list - it's a person. And why that might actually be harder than the checklist ever was.
