Four days into New Orleans Pelicans training camp, and we’re finally starting to get a clearer picture of what this team is trying to become under Jamahl Mosley.

On this episode of Flock, we dive into the biggest takeaways from Day 4 of camp — from the defensive intensity and “iron sharpens iron” mentality, to Zion Williamson’s continued progression, Dejounte Murray finding his place, and what we’re seeing from Jeremiah Fears.

We also talk about Trey Murphy III and Yves Missi and the competition within the roster and whether the Pelicans are developing an identity that could make them a genuinely difficult team to play against this season.

It’s only four days into training camp, so we’re not getting carried away.

But after a long time waiting for this team to find some direction, there are finally some things to be excited about.

Four days down. The season is getting closer.

This is Flock — your New Orleans Pelicans podcast from Down Under to Downtown NOLA, wherever you get your podcasts.

This episode on FLOCK, I’m joined by Shamit Dua from In The NO for a proper deep dive into the New Orleans Pelicans.

We get into where this team actually stands heading into the new season, what we make of the roster, and whether the Pelicans have finally put together a group that genuinely fits around Zion Williamson.

We talk Zion, Trey Murphy III, Dejounte Murray, Herb Jones, Saddiq Bey, Bennedict Mathurin, Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen, as well as the biggest questions surrounding the team heading into the season.

Shamit brings his perspective on the current Pelicans, while we get into the bigger picture - what's changed, what still needs to work, and whether there are legitimate reasons for Pelicans fans to start getting excited again.

No hype for the sake of hype.

Just two Pelicans fans talking basketball and trying to figure out what the hell New Orleans is building.

Okay… I’m starting to believe.

After looking at this Pelicans roster, I’m coming away with a very different feeling to where we were last season. This team actually makes sense.

In Episode 64, I break down why I’m buying into Trey Murphy III taking another step, why Jeremiah Fears and Derik Queen could be two of the most important pieces of the future, and how Dejounte Murray fits into the bigger picture.

I’m not saying the Pelicans are contenders.

I’m saying there are a lot more answers on this roster than there were 12 months ago.

Plus, we hit the Flock Market to see who’s stock is heading up heading into the season.

Maybe I’m getting carried away.

But… I’m starting to believe.
