Revelation 2:18-20 Thyatira: When the church tolerates the wrong things | Revelation Part 1: The King Speaks | Warren Samuels | 10-04-26

The church at Thyatira was doing many things right. They were known for their love, faith, service, and perseverance, and they were growing. Yet Jesus had one serious charge against them: they were tolerating false teaching and sin within their own walls. There is a critical difference between tolerating people with patience and love, and tolerating ideas that are at war with the gospel. A healthy church must hold grace and truth together, loving people deeply while refusing to compromise on the Word of God. The challenge for every believer is to examine what they may be tolerating in their own life that does not align with Scripture.

  • Revelation 3:1-6 Sardis: Wake Up
    2026/10/11

Comfort can be one of the greatest spiritual dangers a believer faces. Jesus addressed this directly in His message to the church in Sardis, calling a congregation that looked alive on the outside but was spiritually dead on the inside to wake up. His call was not one of condemnation but of grace, urging them to desperately depend on the Holy Spirit, return to the Gospel continually, and walk with Him in obedience. Repentance is not a one-time event but a daily posture of turning back toward Christ. A faithful remnant in Sardis had kept their walk with Jesus clean, and He promised that their names would never be blotted from the book of life. The same invitation stands today: wake up, not out of fear, but because Jesus is coming back and He wants to find His people alive and ready.

Revelation 2:8-11 Smyrna: Jesus Knows | Revelation Part 1: The King Speaks | Sam Holm | 9-20-26

It is possible to do all the right things as a Christian and still be missing the most important thing. The church in Ephesus was doctrinally sound, morally disciplined, and faithfully enduring, yet Jesus had one serious charge against them: they had abandoned their first love. Religion without love is simply activity without relationship. Jesus calls us to remember when our faith was alive, to repent and turn back toward Him, and to return to the practices that were present when our love for Him was real. We do not conquer through discipline or doctrinal precision alone, but through what Jesus has already done for us. The goal is not perfect performance. Jesus is asking for your heart.
